Off the Map - Rules [Feb. 15th, 2008|11:33 am] [ Tags | off the map, rules ] Ship's Articles In Character Rules Do not god mod. No dictating the actions of characters other than your own. Stay in character. No letting OOC drama affect IC behavior or changing a character's personality suddenly to fit a recent 'ship' interest. We each have our own interpretation of our character, but keep that interpretation consistent. No blatant marysueing. It's fine to have a character with powers or one similar to yourself but don't go overboard. This is an adult community and very slash friendly. However, smut posts to the community should be lj-cut for non-work safe content and sex scenes that are private should be posted in private journals. If there's some relevance in another scene, feel free to link to it. We just don't need to fill people's FLists with porn when there's plot to get to. If you are part of a major plot, let people know if you are going to become unavailable and try to work the story around you and your character's absence. Real life happens, but it is unfair to expect the entire community to wait for your convenience. Out of Character Rules If you have a problem with a player OOC, keep it OOC. At least attempt to talk to other players about problems that arise in or out of character before contacting mods. Communication is important. If you simply can't get along at all on a personal level, consider trying to find ways around playing together if it comes to that. If no resolution can be found to a disagreement, contact a mod immediately. Don't wait for the problem to build and get worse. Either leave a comment on a mod journal, email us, or catch us in IRC or AIM. When bringing a problem to mods, please have links available to problem posts or logs of any hostile interactions that you wish to bring to our attention. If we can not prove something happened, it's very difficult to assure it does not happen again. Play nice in the OOC chat room and in AIM. If you have a problem with someone's playing, try to be diplomatic about bringing it to their attention. Consider telling a mod about the problem first, and if we agree we will talk to the player about it. Don't be afraid to criticize a moderator's playing. We're players too and appreciate the input.
